Key Executives

Our Founder

Jose Almeida

"Mr. A."

Jose E. Almeida, our founder, affectionately known as "Mr. A." was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador.  As a young man he moved to Cincinnati, Ohio in 1947 where he worked for several conveyor companies including Litton Industries.

In 1950, at the urging of some of his friends from South America and with the encouragement of his local friends, he began his own business in the exportation of material handling equipment.

In the mid-1960's, Jose was appointed by President Lyndon B. Johnson as Honorary Counsel to Costa Rica and served the Latin American community for many years.

In the early 1970's, he and his wife Dorothy moved the business to Atlanta, Georgia to be closer to one of the largest international airports at the time which helped build on the success of the company.

"Mr. A" worked at Jealco up until his death in May, 2004.

Dorothy Almeida

"Mrs. A"

Dorothy married Jose in 1970 where she took on the role of Vice President and Treasurer for the company.  She worked tirelessly by Jose's side making sure the operations ran smoothly and that our customer's shipments were delivered on time and in good order.

Upon Jose's death the company was supposed to be liquidated but Dorothy had other plans.  Instead, she assumed the role of President and continued the business which, by this time, was well-known throughout South and Central America.  "Mrs. A" worked until her "retirement" in 2015.  Sadly, Dorothy passed away in December, 2024 but left a legacy of genuine concern for her family, friends, and clients that Jealco still practices today.

Mark Lacefield

Mark originally started working at Jealco during summers as a kid helping his Aunt Dorothy and Uncle Jose put together mounds of marketing material by placing Jealco stickers in strategic places to ensure our customers knew who to call.  He fondly remembers those times having worked with a great bunch of Jealco employees.

In 2006, when presented with an opportunity to lead the company, Mark accepted and became Jealco's CEO.  During his tenure, Mark has led the company from a paper, pencil, typewriter, and Telex operation into the technology-leveraged entity it is today.  Mark helped open new markets in Europe, the Middle East, and the Far East helping mold Jealco into a truly-worldwide company that it is today.

Sergio Gianella

Sergio has been with Jealco for a million years.  He started working part time while attending University of Georgia.
