Reuland & Trilex Flexible Couplings available from Jealco

Jealco is proud to be a global distributor of Reuland Electric products, offering a wide range of high-performance components including motors, pump adapters, and flexible shaft couplings.

** Last year, Reuland Electric sold its entire inventory of flexible couplings to a select group of trusted distributors, including Jealco.
Recently, they also transferred the drawings and manufacturing rights to a Canadian firm named Trilex Fluid Power, Inc.
As Jealco is a distributor for Trilex products, you can rest assured that you will continue to have access to the reliable and high-quality flexible couplings, pump housings, and other hydraulic components you have depended on for years.
We remain committed to providing these outstanding products to clients around the globe.

How to Select the Correct Coupling for your Application
1 - Determine the Service Factor (SF)
General Rule
LIGHT LOADS - Even or Steady Load – Non-Reversing (SF 1.0)
(Blowers • Centrifugal Pumps • Agitators • Conveyors • Fans)
MODERATE LOADS - Moderate Shock – Uneven Load – Infrequent Reversing (SF 1.5)
(Elevators • Mixers • Machine Tools • Reciprocating Pumps)
HEAVY LOADS - Heavy Shock – Uneven Load – Frequent Reversing (SF 2.0)
(Shaker Conveyors • Crushers • Winches • Presses)
2 - Determine Rated Torque
Rated Torque = (HP x 63000) / RPM x Service Factor
3 - Determine Shaft Size
Remember the shaft size must not exceed the coupling's maximum bore
4 - Select Coupling based on Rated Torque and Shaft Size Parameters
| Coupling Size | Bore Range (in.) | Keyway Range (in.) | Insert |
|---|---|---|---|
| RC1 | 0.375 - 1.125 | 0.093 - 0.250 | RG1-L9 (black) or H5 (blue) |
| RC2 | 0.375 - 1.375 | 0.093 - 0.375 | RG2-L9 (black) or H5 (blue) |
| RC3 | 0.500 - 1.625 | 0.125 - 0.375 | RG3-L9 (black) or H5 (blue) |
| RC4 | 0.625 - 1.875 | 0.187 - 0.500 | RG4-L9 (black) or H5 (blue) |
| RC5 | 0.750 - 2.375 | 0.187 - 0.625 | RG5-L9 (black) or H5 (blue) |
| RC6 | 0.750 - 2.625 | 0.187 - 0.625 | RG6-L9 (black) or H5 (blue) |
| RC7 | 1.125 - 2.875 | 0.250 - 0.750 | RG7-L9 (black) or H5 (blue) |
| RC8 | 1.250 - 3.875 | 0.250 - 1.000 | RG8-L9 (black) or H5 (blue) |

Reuland Couplings FAQ
What's the difference between a "Reuland" coupling and a "Trilex" coupling?
In early 2025, Reuland Electric sold its entire flexible coupling inventory to a small group of trusted distributors, including Jealco, and transferred the molds, drawings, and manufacturing rights to Trilex Fluid Power, Inc. Jealco still has a large quantity of original Reuland-manufactured surplus stock on hand, and as a Trilex distributor we also supply newly manufactured couplings made from those same Reuland molds, drawings, and specifications. In short: same design, same specifications, same fit and performance — only the manufacturer name on the part may differ depending on what's currently in stock.
If I order a "Reuland" coupling, could I receive one made by Trilex instead?
It's possible, depending on current inventory. Because Trilex now manufactures these couplings using the original Reuland molds and drawings, a Trilex-made unit is dimensionally and functionally identical to the Reuland original. We have not had any fit, performance, or compatibility issues with Trilex-manufactured couplings. If you have a specific requirement for original Reuland-stamped stock, let us know when you order and we'll confirm availability.
How do I select the correct coupling size for my application?
Start by determining the Service Factor (SF) based on your load type: 1.0 for light, even loads (blowers, centrifugal pumps, agitators, conveyors, fans), 1.5 for moderate-shock loads (elevators, mixers, machine tools, reciprocating pumps), or 2.0 for heavy-shock, frequently reversing loads (shaker conveyors, crushers, winches, presses). Then calculate Rated Torque using Rated Torque = (HP x 63000 / RPM) x Service Factor, confirm your shaft size doesn't exceed the coupling's maximum bore, and select a coupling size (RC1-RC8) that meets both the torque and bore requirements.
What's the difference between the L9 (black) and H5 (blue) insert options?
Both are spider/grommet inserts available across the RC1-RC8 coupling range (designated RG#-L9 in black or H5 in blue). They offer different durometer/hardness characteristics, which affect shock absorption and torsional stiffness — harder inserts transmit more torque with less twist, while softer inserts dampen shock and vibration better. Contact Jealco for a recommendation based on your specific load and operating conditions.
What coupling sizes does Jealco stock, and what bore range do they cover?
Jealco stocks Reuland/Trilex flexible couplings in sizes RC1 through RC8, covering bore ranges from 0.375" up to 3.875" depending on size (for example, RC1 covers 0.375"-1.125" while RC8 covers 1.250"-3.875"). Each size has a corresponding keyway range and accepts the L9 or H5 insert. See the bore range table on the page for full specifications by size.
