What incline belting is
On a level conveyor, a smooth belt carries product fine. As the conveyor tilts, product starts sliding back. Incline belting adds grip or a physical stop to the top surface. Roughly, the steeper the incline and the looser or rounder the product, the more aggressive the top needs to be: roughtop for moderate slopes and boxed goods, raised patterns for more grip, and molded cleats for bulk material.
The top surface is only half the choice. The belt underneath still has to suit the job: its tension rating, its cover compound (for oil, food or abrasion), and its pulley size. Each incline belt's store page lists all of these.
Taller cleats and sidewalls
For steeper inclines, or loose material that spills off the edges, we can add taller cleats and sidewalls to a belt, quoted to order. Tell us the incline angle and what you are carrying.

When do I need incline belting?
When product starts sliding back on a sloped conveyor. The steeper the slope and the looser or rounder the product, the more grip the top needs: roughtop for moderate slopes and boxed goods, raised patterns for more grip, and molded cleats for bulk material.
What is the difference between roughtop and cleated belting?
Roughtop is a textured surface that grips product. Cleated belting has raised cleats molded into the top cover that physically hold material in place, which suits sand, gravel and other bulk material. Patterns such as wedgegrip, V-ridge and chevron sit in between, with raised shapes that grip harder than roughtop.
Which incline belts resist oil?
The nitrile and carboxylated nitrile roughtop belts, the moderate oil resistant (MOR) cleated and multi-chevron heavy duty belts, and most of the PVC incline belts. Each belt's store page shows whether it is oil resistant.
Do you have food-grade incline belting?
Yes. White PVC roughtop, chevron and crescent belts approved by the FDA for food contact, and a white nitrile meatcleat belt in our food-grade category.
Can you add taller cleats or sidewalls?
Yes, quoted to order. Tell us the incline angle, what you are carrying and the belt width, and we will recommend the cleat height, spacing and sidewalls.
Can you cut a belt to length and make it endless?
Yes. Every belt is cut to the width and length you order. We can also install mechanical lacing, splice it endless (vulcanized or glued), and add cleats, sidewalls or V-guides. Finishing is quoted to order; tell us your application requirements.
Can you match a belt I already have?
Usually. Send the name printed on the old belt, or a photo of its top pattern with its width and thickness, and we will find the closest current belt.
