Motor Replacement & Cross-Reference

Replace a Failed or Obsolete Electric Motor

When a motor fails, is discontinued, or you only have the old one in hand, an independent distributor can still match it. Send a photo of the nameplate and Jealco cross-references a replacement by horsepower, speed, voltage, frame, enclosure and mounting — and exports it if you need it shipped.

Any make

Independent, not tied to one catalog — we cross-reference across brands.

Obsolete & hard-to-find

Discontinued and legacy motors matched to a current equivalent.

Identified from the nameplate

A photo gives us the frame, HP, speed and enclosure to match.

Exporting since 1950

Sourcing and export handled together, worldwide — including 50 Hz and IEC.

Start here: what do you have?

Send whatever you can read. The more of the nameplate, the tighter the match.

Your situation Send us What we do
You have the motor, nameplate readable A clear nameplate photo + how it mounts and drives Identify the exact motor and cross-reference a current equivalent
Nameplate missing or unreadable Photos of the motor and conduit box, frame dimensions, shaft size Identify the frame and rating and match it by specification
Model is discontinued The old catalog or model number, even if superseded Cross-reference to a current motor, same make or another
It is a gearmotor (motor + reducer) Both nameplates, or the combined gearmotor nameplate Match the assembly, or see our gearbox-replacement page
Export / different power system Your voltage, frequency (50 or 60 Hz) and frame standard (NEMA or IEC) Spec a motor built for your supply and mounting

What the nameplate tells us

These are the fields that let us match a replacement precisely. Send what you can read — you do not need all of them.

HP / kW & speed

Horsepower or kilowatts, and the RPM (or number of poles).

Voltage, phase & Hz

Voltage, single- or three-phase, and 60 or 50 Hz.

Frame

NEMA frame (e.g., 56, 143T, 256T) or IEC frame (e.g., 90, 112M).

Enclosure

ODP, TEFC, washdown, or explosion-proof / hazardous-location rating.

Mounting

Rigid base (foot), C-face, D-flange, or a combination.

Brand, model & more

Maker and catalog number, plus service factor, insulation class and duty if shown.

For hazardous locations, tell us the Class, Division and Group (or the IEC Zone) so the replacement carries the right rating. If it drives a specific machine — pump, fan, conveyor, compressor — say so; the application helps confirm the duty and service factor.

Motor types we replace

AC induction

Single- and three-phase, general purpose, ODP and TEFC.

Severe & washdown duty

Washdown, stainless and severe-duty motors for wet or harsh sites.

Explosion-proof / hazardous

Rated for classified hazardous locations.

Inverter & vector duty

For variable-frequency drive and vector control.

Brake & multi-speed

Motors with integral brakes, and two- and multi-speed motors.

Specialty & gearmotors

Crane and hoist, DC, and gearmotor assemblies.

Brands we cross-reference

As an independent distributor we cross-reference across makes and match your nameplate to a current equivalent — from the same manufacturer where one exists, or another when that is the better fit. We also supply Reuland specialty and built-to-order motors directly.

Why independent helps here. A single-brand distributor can only offer their own catalog. Because we are not tied to one, we can tell you when the original is still available, when a different make is the right replacement, and what the trade-offs are — so you get a motor that fits the frame, the load and your power supply, not just the nearest thing in one book.

Motor replacement FAQ

Can you replace a discontinued or obsolete motor?

Usually, yes. As an independent distributor we cross-reference across manufacturers, so even when the original is discontinued we can identify a current equivalent that matches the horsepower, speed, frame, enclosure and mounting. Send a nameplate photo and we will find the replacement.

What information do you need to cross-reference a motor?

A photo of the nameplate is the most important thing. Beyond that: horsepower or kW, speed (RPM or poles), voltage, phase and frequency, the frame (NEMA or IEC), the enclosure (ODP, TEFC, washdown or explosion-proof) and the mounting (foot, C-face or D-flange). Service factor, insulation class and duty help confirm the match.

Can you cross-reference between different motor brands?

Yes. Because we are an independent distributor and not tied to one catalog, we can match a discontinued motor from one manufacturer to a current equivalent from another when that is the best available fit. We confirm frame, rating, enclosure and mounting so it drops in.

Can you supply motors for export and other power systems?

Yes. We export worldwide and can spec motors for your voltage and frequency, including 50 Hz supplies and IEC frames. Tell us your supply and mounting standard and we will match it.

Send the nameplate, we will find the motor

A clear photo of the nameplate and how the motor mounts and drives is enough to start. We will confirm the cross-reference, the price and the lead time — and handle export if you need it shipped.
