Who needs a stainless steel pallet jack
A painted pallet jack is the right choice for a dry warehouse. Where the floor is hosed down every day, or the product cannot be near rust or flaking paint, it is not.
Food and beverage
Processing and packing rooms that are washed down daily, where rust and chipped paint are a contamination risk.
Pharmaceutical and medical
Clean and controlled areas that need equipment that can be cleaned and sanitized.
Chemical plants
Areas where spills and cleaning chemicals attack painted steel.
Wet areas
Produce, seafood, dairy and meat handling, where the pallet jack is wet most of the day.
Sanitary operations
Any operation with sanitation procedures, where equipment is cleaned on a schedule.
Damp but not washed
Loading docks and coolers with occasional water. Galvanized may be enough here, at a lower price.
Full stainless, stainless frame and forks, or galvanized
Choose by how often the pallet jack is washed and what touches it.
| Construction | Best for | Washdown | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Entirely 304 stainless | Daily washdown, food contact areas, pharmaceutical | Yes, frequent | Highest cost and the heaviest unit (Vestil: 225 lb) |
| 304 stainless frame and forks | Wet areas where the frame and forks take the water | Yes | Lower cost and lighter (Vestil: 194 lb); some components are not stainless |
| Galvanized | Areas washed less often, or where sanitary conditions are not required | Occasional | Much lower cost; the coating can wear through in daily washdown |
| Standard painted | Dry warehouses | No | Rusts once the paint chips in wet areas |

Stainless steel pallet jack FAQ
What is a stainless steel pallet jack used for?
For moving pallets in food, beverage, pharmaceutical, medical, chemical and other wet or sanitary areas, where a painted pallet jack would rust, flake paint or fail to meet cleaning procedures.
What is the difference between full stainless and stainless frame and forks?
A full stainless pallet jack is made entirely of 304 stainless steel. A stainless frame and forks model uses 304 stainless for the frame and forks, the parts that take the most water, which lowers the price and the weight. Choose full stainless for frequent washdown or food contact areas.
Is a galvanized pallet jack good enough?
For areas that are damp or washed occasionally, often yes, and it costs much less. For daily washdown or sanitary areas choose stainless, because the galvanized coating can wear through over time.
What capacity are stainless pallet jacks?
The 27" fork models on this page are rated 5,500 lb, the same as a standard manual pallet jack. The narrow 21" fork Superlift model is rated 5,000 lb.
Do you have stainless pallet jacks with narrow forks?
Yes. The Superlift SLWPJ50-21-48 has 21" wide forks for narrower pallets, and Superlift also builds custom sizes.
Do you ship stainless pallet jacks outside the US?
Yes. Jealco has exported industrial equipment to customers overseas since 1950. Send your city and country and we will quote export freight.
Send the load, the pallet size and how it is washed
We will recommend full stainless, stainless frame and forks or galvanized, and quote it with freight.
